Food | Karpo Grill

A little while ago I was invited to Karpo Grill, part of The St Pancras Hotels Group for dinner. The restaurant’s main selling point is its Josper Grill which cooks the food with a barbeque smoked flavour, but allows control and retains the juicyness of the food.

We started off with Grilled Octopus with beetroot hummus and squid ink dressing with thanksto the suggestion of our waitress. This is a good light starter that is different but so tasty. I was a bit skeptical as I ate the end of the octopus first which was a bit too crisp and dry as it was the smallest part of the octopus. But moving towards the main part of the octopus, it was juicy, not chewy and perfect with the flavours of the hummus. And look how pretty the presentation is! I don’t think I appreciate seafood enough but this is definitely a game changer!

For the mains, we had Sirloin Steak served with bone marrow and Mac & Cheese and Sweet Potato Fries. Perfect combinations. The steak was tender and flavoursome, though I think it would have been even better if it was Medium Rare and more towards rare than mediun. The mac & cheese was nice, comfort food whilst it’s cold outside but it would be nicer if the cheese on top stayed with the macaroni rather than come off on first touch. Sweet potato fries, you can’t go too wrong really, it was nice and crispy.

To end the meal, we had deep fried ice cream and lemon meringue tart. I enjoyed the lemon meringue tart as it was really refreshing without being too sweet, a nice palette cleanser after a flavoursome meal.

Thank you to Karpo Grill for this delicious meal!
